Bonus: TV

A popular TV show that I have seen before is Discovery Channel. That left me really deep impression. I still remeber a program that I just saw it several days ago. The program showed a frog try to move tadpoles from the dangerous place to a safe place. But each time, the frog only can bring one tadpole with itself. Though it was a tough task, the frog still kept doing so. After I watched this TV program, the frog's moral spirit motivate me a lot. It made me know that no matter how hard the things is , I should insist on doing it.

Pop Culture

Going abroad to study in the United States has not only been a terrific experience for me, but it has also changed my personality by expanding my mind and improving my confidence. The reason why it has expanded my mind is due to the campus possesses various students with a variety backgrounds. Because of these differences, the students all have different views of school and life, which helped me open and expand my mind. The next reason is because I have met an important person in my life, Gilbert, my social science professor. Through his lecture, I understand human behaviors a lot. I knew more about the social environment and felt more comfortable. Therefore, this amazing experience has changed my way of thinking.

Since taking the pop culture class, I have become aware of how Jazz music had become more and more popular in Chicago. Initially, I did not believe jazz music could be so popular. However, as the semester unfolded, I learned how jazz music was developed and also how it entertained people's lives in an unbelievable way. In addition, Jazz music has already become a symbol of Chicago because of its popularity. Since I have learned about Jazz music in this pop culture class, my perspective on Jazz has changed completely. Sometimes, when I take public transportation, it is easily to be seen that a musican plays an instrument or sing a song. Thus pop culture does exist everywhere around us.

Movies

The story started with Crusoe meeting a marine diaster. Fortunately, he was the only person who survived in that disaster, but he was left alone on a deserted island. After he felt disappointed about everything, so he changed his mind. He found and created many essential things including guns and food for daily life. One day, Crusoe realized a group people had landed on this island. Actually, they were cannibals. In addition, Crusoe protected a victim against killing, then name him Fridayucc. Several days later, Crusoe and Friday successfully saved some people and they boarded their ship in order to return England. Ultimately, Crusoe met his family and get together.

"Robinson Crusoe" is worth to see. Especially for the young people, they may learn something from the main character. Obviously, it would influence people positively. It was a perfect model for people to know, no matter what happened, do not give up. He explained the real life meaning and proved us how important and precious human lives were. Moreover, this movie has the attractive plots and fine pictures. Therefore, I highly recommend "Robinson Crusoe" this movie.

Music

"My Humps" is my favorite song. It is sung by The Black Eyed Peas, which is my favorite musical group. Except the Black Eyed Peas, I also like Sean Paul, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and so on. Actually, I am not only interested in hip-hop music, but also the classical music, reggae music, rap music and country music. Different genre of music possess different feeling, tempo, rythme. Each of them has particular characteristic. In addition Korean music, Japaness music, I like and listen them frequently as well. I believe that music has no boundaries.

It was an interesting interview and unforgettable tour. Our team chose Macy's as interview place. The reason was that we thought Macy's belongs to pop culture. Usually shopping mall would show the latest fashion and imply the fashion trend for future. Totally we interviewed three people. They explained what they thought about pop culture. After the interview, we took some pictures together inside the Macy's and enjoyed out time.

Technology

Personally, there are so many things that I cannot live without. Among those stuffs, laptop is definitely my best friend. As the moment I came here, laptop stayed with me most of time. Due to my special case, laptop is an essential communication tool for me. Ebery week, I talk with my parents through web cam. It creats the opportunity for us to see each other. In other words, technology is really important in our lives, it makes the life more convenient than before.

Cultural Identity

Overall, I selected some particular identites which I had been influenced by both American culture and Chinese culture. I hoped you could enjoy the trip. As we know, China is an Asia country, and American is a Northern American country, therfore, there do exist a obvious culture difference between these two countries. Personally, I was sensitive with music and food. Actually, I thought American culture has strong impact on me. For instance, I realized after I came here, I was more interested in hip-hop. It is really attractive, no matter its songs or dancing, I can feel enthusiasm and passion inside. Once, Jay Zhou and Leehom were my favorite singers, but now, I would like the black eyed peas and Rihanna best. In addition, I like tattoo as well, it is an amazing art. Compared with each traditional food, "Jiao Zi" can be regarded as Chinese traditional food, and "Mashed potatoes" probably represents American food. Moreover, I also like sports cars. Hopefully, one day I could possess one.
